Over the years many manufacturers have been replacing the old style mechanical dashboards, for new up-to-date digital ones.

Basically, the new types are cheaper and faster to produce, but unfortunately, as with all new developments, problems can arise. The dashboard relies on information stored within a memory device called an Eeprom (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory). Unfortunately this device is susceptible to involuntary electrical disturbances caused by the vehicles electrical system, which in turn can course corruption of the information stored within...

Some manufacturers such as Peugeot, have in the past had software problems where the mileage/kilometers have increased, either while traveling, or while stationary… see the extract from BBC “Watch Dog” website for more details.

Although Peugeot have said that they will correct the software free of charge, they are only capable of fixing the problem from re-occurring, they are unable to correct the some 30% increase actually covered.

This is bad news for those re-selling, or even worse for those on a lease hire agreement, whereby you pay a penalty for every 1,000 miles over the agreed range.. such as 10,000 miles.

Other information held within the Eeprom, are details covering calibration of the tachometer (Rev-Counter) that also changes on engine-size /petrol/diesel versions, even door opening options, petrol/temperature gauge settings are also there on many vehicles. Our equipment will allow you to correct these faults by way of direct programming to the Eeprom/Micro or from the manufactures diagnostic port.

This software is constantly been updated and modified, to cater for the day-to-day changes made by the manufactures.
